Located 43 m on the heights of Puy de Menjon, the highest point of the Médoc , in the town of Listrac-Médoc, Château Fonréaud takes its name from "Fontaine Royale": according to legend, the King of England Henry II Plantagenêt would be quenched at a spring that sprang from his land. The latter is made up of gravel Pyrenees , well drained, on a limestone subsoil.

We owe the Leblanc de Mauvezin family the construction of the cellars in the 17th century and later the construction of the castle with remarkable architecture, in the 1850s. In 1776, the vines of Fonréaud were reputed to give the best wines of Listrac .

Bought in 1962 by Léo Chanfreau, the estate is still operated today by the family, Jean, Marie-Hélène and Caroline continuing the efforts undertaken and ensuring the modernization of the Château.

The vineyard covers approximately forty-five hectares, straddling the two appellations Listrac-Médoc (35 ha) and Moulis-en-Médoc (10 ha), producing several red wines, including Château Fonréaud sur Listrac , Château Chemin Royal sur Moulis , and a dry white wine, the Cygne .

All the spirits offered are in stock and also available in our store at 3 rue Lucien Faure in BORDEAUX - Line stop B/7/32 Cité du vin
