Thierry Allemand, a former electromechanical engineer, has built up a fabulous wine heritage in Cornas (Reynard, Geynale, Chaillot ...) through his hard work. In the 1980s, he worked for Robert Michel and took care of the vines in the evenings and weekends, which he gradually acquired. At that time the Cornas hillsides were relatively neglected, the locals preferring for many of them to cultivate peaches or apricots in the plain. Also, it was not uncommon for papies to ring at Thierry's door to offer him their old vines.
Thierry Allemand cultivates his five hectares only with copper and sulfur. All floors are worked with a winch and a pickaxe. In the cellar, the wines are vinified without sulfur or any other input. It proceeds to a long maceration and resort to gentle punching down on the foot. The wines are aged for twenty-four months in non-new wood and Thierry would like to extend the aging to three years in casks. Two cuvées are bottled with a low addition of sulfur: the Reynard cuvée in which we find the juices of vines over forty years old and the Chaillot cuvée which is made up of juices from younger vines.
