Domaine Gros Frère et Soeur - Vosne Romanée Village 2016
The brother and sister are Colette and Gustave , the children of Louis Gros, who created this estate in 1963 in Vosne-Romanée on the basis of their heritage.
In 1984, Bernard Gros , a nephew already in the house, took over from Gustave, who died prematurely. The estate has 20 hectares, including 4 Grands Crus plots (Richebourg, Echézeaux, Grands-Echézeaux and Clos-de-Vougeot), approximately one hectare of Vosne-Romanée Premier Cru and a little over 3 hectares of Vosne-Romanée Villages.
Bernard Gros enlarged it by creating in the hamlet of Concoeur-et-Corboin (above Vosne-Romanée) a plot of 12 hectares of high vines in the Hautes-Côtes-de-Nuits appellation (3 hectares of chardonnay, 9 hectares of Pinot Noir).
On his arrival, he also undertook a massive uprooting campaign to replace the insufficiently qualitative vines with finer clones on each plot. It therefore has a plant heritage essentially endowed with young vines which are reaching maturity today.
It remains a supporter of classic oenology (short vatting, no pre-fermentation maceration) while maturing all of its wines in new barrels. The result is supple and aromatic wines that are appreciable from their youth.
For the anecdote, Bernard Gros, mustache à la Gauloise, is also a musician. In Vosne-Romanée, he has built a superb cellar with a few pianos: a curiosity that is worth seeing. We do not know if the wines age better in music, but it is certain that they often appreciate original and uncompromising personalities.
All the spirits offered are in stock and also available in our store at 3 rue Lucien Faure in BORDEAUX - Line stop B/7/32 Cité du vin
