THE FAVORITE - Aged rum - Cuvée La Flibuste - Vintage 1993 - 40%
La Favorite is one of the last independent distilleries of Martinique with Neisson. It was founded in 1842 on the remains of a candy called Jambettes and will be renamed La Favorite in 1851. Henri Dormoy acquired it in 1909 and then made some improvements to turn the sugar refinery into a distillery. Following some twists linked to a certain penchant for gambling Albert Dormoy (Henry's son), La Favorite sees its activity cease in the 1938s. It will resume its activity only when André, his younger brother, it was not rebuilt to completely renovate it in 1956. Today, La Favorite produces sugarcane on 60 ha and is also supplied from small local producers, it still works entirely with the help of a steam engine built in 1906 and still valiant. Vesou (cane wine), obtained from cane juice fermented over a very long time of up to 72 hours, is distilled in two Creole columns, one of which is entirely copper and has been in operation since 1957 and the other more modern in date of 1986.
La Cuvée Flibuste La Favorite is part of the most prestigious ranges of the brand and participates in the rise in power of its notoriety. This 1993 vintage has been aged patiently for 26 years in ex-Cognac oak barrels under the watchful eye of Maître de Chai Robert Charles. The wood, enriched with the complex and sweet aromas of Cognac that he once saw grow, will thus transmit some of its essence to rum and enrich, complexifying its aromatic palette. This Fluvuste Cuvée de La Favorite is published each year in a limited number of 6000 bottles all assembled, waxed and numbered by hand, thus honoring its authentic and artisanal character.
