The Arran Malt is a Single Malt whisky distillery on the island of Arran on the west coast of Scotland. It makes a variety of whiskies with a range of different age expressions and finishes. The distillery was built in 1995 on the northern part of the island in Lochranza and near Loch na Davie, the Arran's water source. The grist (the ground grain to which boiling water is added to form the mash) was originally bought in, but a mill has now been installed. The Arran Malt is known for its fresh, citrusy character, which may derive from the slow pace at which the stills are run.
