The Gaja family, originally from Spain, settled in Piedmont in the 17th century. It was not until 1859 that Giovanni Gaja created the Gaja estate in Piedmont and began producing wine. Quickly, and under the impulse of Angelo Gaja's grandmother, the estate produces one of the best Barbaresco in Italy. The reputation of the domain is made. In 1967, Angelo Gaja was the first to use French barrels in Piedmont to vinify Nebbiolo on separate plots. Then over the years, Angelo Gaja will acquire different areas: the estate Pieve Santa Restituta in Montalcino in Tuscany, he then buys the Azienda Agrigola Gromis, in La Morra in the area of Barolo on the terroir of Cerequio, he finally buys Ca 'Marcanda in Castagneto Carducci in Tuscany maritime. Angelo Gaja and his oenologist Guido Rivella have constantly innovated. In the research of the type of oak necessary for the production of the barrels, at the level of the yields, and the expression of the specificities of the soils. The notion of '' à la bourguignonne crus '', dear to Angelo Gaja, has been developed since he took over the family business. Also, having planted international grape varieties to compete with the best producers in the world, Gaja was one of the first to launch the '' wines of authors ''.
Sito Moresco Blend (Nebbiolo, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon): A more modern and affordable vision of Angelo Gaja. The name comes from Angelo's 10-hectare vineyard on the Moresco site. A complex wine, elegant and refined, with a good length. It has flavors of red fruit, well-balanced in the mouth with very fine and silky tannins, with a fresh and fruity finish.
