Domaine d'Eugénie - Vosne Romanée 2017
Domaine d'Eugénie was born from the acquisition of René Engel estate by François Pinault in July 2006. It is located in Vosne-Romanée, in the heart of the Côte-de-Nuits between Nuits-Saint-Georges and Gevrey-Chambertin. This village is considered the gem of the great red wines of Burgundy.
Since 2009, Domaine d'Eugénie is based in the center of Vosne-Romanée in the former "Clos Frantin" which is now called "Clos d'Eugénie". Today, the estate is managed by Frédéric Engerer (manager of Château Latour) and a team of two experienced and versatile winemakers.
Significant work has been undertaken to develop a complete and efficient winemaking site: the vat room is made up of thermo regulated wooden vats of different capacities to make a strict and precise selection of parcels, reflecting the diversity and complexity of the terroirs. The estate produces six wines out of five appellations and covers an area of 6.51 hectares spread over the municipalities of Vosne-Romanée, Vougeot and Flagey-Echezeaux.
Since 2009, Clos d'Eugénie and Vosne-Romanée 1er Cru have started their conversion to biodynamy.
The cuvée “Vosne-Romanée Village” comes from the blending of two parcels: "Les Communes" and "Les Vigneux" in the lower part of the hillside on calcareous clay soils on alluvium. The average age of the vines varies between 30 and 50 years.
The wine offers a nice concentration supported by a supple and fruity structure.
