Bénédictine Liqueur - B & B - 1 liter - 40%
Bénédictine is a digestive liqueur , made in Fécamp in Normandy . The brand belongs to the Bacardi-Martini France group. According to legend, a health elixir was developed by a Venetian monk, Dom Bernardo Vincelli at the abbey of Fécamp in 1510. An alchemist and herbalist, he distilled some of the medicinal plants he found in abundance on the cauchois plateau. Over the years, the initial recipe would have been lost, then found in 1863 by the wine merchant Alexandre Le Grand. Without doubt more precisely, it seems that Alexandre Le Grand concocted the liquor himself, helped by a pharmacist, from old medicinal recipes that he had in a book, having belonged to the abbey. The acronym DOM means "Deo Optimo Maximo" in Latin for "To God, the best, the greatest".
The Bénédictine is made from 27 oriental spices and local plants including angelica, hyssop, juniper, myrrh, saffron, mace, fir blossom, aloe, arnica, lemon balm, tea, thyme, coriander, cloves, lemon, vanilla, orange zest, honey, red berries, cinnamon and nutmeg. B&B is a blend of French Brandy (eau-de-vie aged in oak barrels) and Bénédictine .
