GLEN GARIOCH - Founders Reserve 1797 - 48%
The Glen Garioch Distillery (pronounced "Glen Geery") is ideally located in the charming Aberdeenshire village of Old Meldrum, in the heart of the famous Scottish Highlands. This region is renowned not only for its breathtaking natural landscapes and rich cultural traditions such as colorful tartans, but also as a true cradle of quality Scottish whisky production. Glen Garioch is among the oldest distilleries in the area, bearing a unique historical heritage. Founded in 1797 by the visionary Thomas Simpson, the distillery takes its name from the picturesque Garioch valley, recognized as the finest region in Scotland for growing barley used in whisky production. In 1837, the distillery was taken over by John Manson Jr, son of the founder of the neighboring Strathmeldrum distillery, thus ensuring the continuity of a precious family know-how. After a period of dormancy in 1995, the distillery resumed full activity in 1997 and is now part of the Morrison Bowmore Distillers group, itself owned by the Japanese giant Suntory, a global leader in the spirits sector.
The first expression of the new exclusive range Glen Garioch “1797 Founder’s Reserve” emotionally celebrates the Manson brothers, true founding fathers of this whisky institution. This edition embodies their heritage and reflects all the aromatic richness and complexity that this authentic distillery can offer.
