GLEN GARIOCH - Founders Reserve 1797 - 48%
The Glen Garioch Distillery (pronounced "Glen Geery") is located in the village of Old Meldrum in the Aberdeenshire of the Scottish Highlands. This region is famous for its beautiful landscapes, colorful tartans and is home to many distilleries, Glen Garioch being one of the oldest. Founded in 1797 by Thomas Simpson, this small distillery takes its name from the Garioch Valley, traditionally Scotland's finest barley growing area. The distillery was bought by John Manson Jr, owner and son of the founder of the Strathmeldrum Distillery in 1837. Mothballed in 1995, the distillery has been operational again since 1997. It is owned by Morrison Bowmore Distillers, a company controlled by the Japanese company Suntory.
The first expression of the new Glen Garioch range “1797 Founder’s Reserve” pays tribute to the Manson brothers, the founding fathers of the distillery.
