Domaine Jean Michel GERIN - La Loye 2019
Domaine Jean-Michel Gerin is located on the Côte Rôtie, in the village of Ampuis, in the north of the Rhône Valley. Jean-Michel Gerin acquired his first vineyard plot in Côte Rôtie in 1983. Four years later, he released his first vintage, closely followed by his first wine from a single vineyard: Les Grandes Places, in 1988 and La Landonne in 1996. The estate's most recent release happened in 2009 with the production of La Viallière from a vineyard planted in 2003 in the Côte Rôtie. Today the estate covers nearly 17 hectares and the two sons of the family, Michaël and Alexis, participate in the viticulture. It is in 2020 that the decision is taken to launch the conversion to organic farming.
La Loye is made from Viognier, whose vines were planted in 1989 on two plots south of the town of Condrieu. It is vinified in old demi-muids (2 to 5 years) then aged for 1 year.
Grape variety: 100% Viognier
