Les Frères de la Côte form a unique group of importers and bottlers specialized in products transported exclusively by eco-friendly sailing ships. Founded in 2015 by two visionary French sailing captains, Raphaël and François Mangin, this innovative company embodies a strong commitment to sustainable maritime transport. Since 2017, Frères de la Côte rums have been meticulously bottled at their warehouse located in Saint-Étienne, in the heart of the Loire, thus guaranteeing excellent quality.
Their flagship sailing ship, the Très Hombres, is a 32-meter brigantine, powered solely by wind, without an engine, capable of carrying 35 tons of cargo. Since 2010, the Très Hombres has completed no less than 12 transatlantic crossings from its home port in the Netherlands, demonstrating exceptional maritime expertise and unmatched environmental commitment.
In 2019, the creation of the company La Compagnie des Frères de la Côte marked the launch of an ambitious project to restore the voilier Zeehaen, a brigantine over 45 meters long capable of carrying up to 120 tons of merchandise. This fleet of cargo sailing ships offers a true ecological alternative to conventional maritime transport, reinventing transatlantic logistics with a more human and sustainable model, combining respect for the environment and fair trade.
This exclusive magnum, limited to only 198 bottles, is the result of a unique adventure: it spent 10 years sailing aboard the Très Hombres. Its incredible journey took it from La Palma to the Caribbean islands, passing through the majestic Azores, before returning to Amsterdam. This exceptional rum benefited from careful aging in brandy barrels carefully selected at Distillerias Aldea, giving it rich aromas and an inimitable character.
The bottle is adorned with an unpublished drawing by Captain Jorne, dating from 2012, adding an artistic and authentic touch to this precious content.
