LACOSTE BORIE 2016
Château Grand-Puy-Lacoste is located in Pauillac, in the Bordeaux region. It was classified Fifth Grand Cru Classé in the 1855 classification. The Borie family has owned the château since 1978. From its acquisition, François-Xavier Borie carried out a very thorough renovation of the château and the cellars. Significant investments were immediately implemented, such as the creation of a new vat room, from 1979, with thermo-regulated vats and the upgrading of the vineyard, with plantations where necessary, improvement drainage, new methods of training. The Grand-Puy-Lacoste estate has 90 hectares, 58 of which are planted with vines. Grand-Puy-Lacoste practices sustainable cultivation: in twenty years, treatments have halved and no insecticide has been used for the past ten years.
Lacoste Borie is the château's second wine. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (61%), Merlot (29%) and Cabernet Franc (10%) with an average age of 38 years. The fermentation lasts 3 weeks. The wine is aged in fine-grained French oak barrels for 14 to 16 months, 45% of which is new.
