PENDERYN - Royal Welsh Whisky - 43%
Penderyn Distillery is located on the southern tip of the Brecon Beacons National Park in Wales. Distilling in Wales was a lost art but in the late 1990s, a group of friend decided to establish the first whisky distillery in Wales in over a century. The location in the historic village of Penderyn was chosen because of the site’s own supply of fresh natural spring water. Their whisky was launched on Saint David’s Day 2004 in the presence of His Royal Highness Prince Charles.
Royal Welsh Whisky is part of the “Icons of Wales” series. It is the 6th release of the range, launched on the 1st March 2019, and commemorates the original Welsh Whisky distillery at Frongoch, near Bala, which closed over 100 years ago. Queen Victoria visited there in 1891 and on the 26th July 1895 the Welsh Whisky Co. received a warrant, and Royal Welsh Whisky was born.
