Domaine Stéphane Ogier - La Rosine 2018
Domaine Stéphane Ogier is located in Ampuis, in Côte-Rôtie, in the north of the Rhône Valley. The exploitation has existed for 7 generations, and Stéphane Ogier joined the family estate in 1997. By taking over from his father Michel, he chose to do specific work on his different terroirs in order to reveal the uniqueness of these places full of story. From his experience in Burgundy, Stéphane Ogier retains the taste of elegance and finesse, which have become characteristic of his wines. Each year, the winemaker endeavours to vinify the plots separately, to bring out the best of their potential. The blends are adjusted according to the vintage. When the estate began to vinify its own grapes, it had around 3 hectares of vines. From the end of the 1990s, new vineyards were planted or purchased, in particular several in new localities in Côte-Rôtie and a small vineyard of 1.2 ha in Condrieu. Today, the vineyard covers more than 15 hectares, 8 of which are in the Côte-Rotie appellation. He also created a small trading company which supplies the fruits of the Le Temps Est Venu cuvée in the Côtes du Rhône appellation.
La Rosine is made from Syrah, the age of the vines of which varies from 20 to 30 years. They are located on a slope facing south-east in the town of Tupin and Semons which adjoins the Côte-Rôtie appellation. The wine is aged for 12 months in Burgundy barrels.
Grape variety: 100% Syrah
