The first sugar cane plantations were developed in the Dominican Republic after the voyages of Christopher Columbus, and the sugar industry has long been a major activity. At the end of the 19th century, emigrants of Cuban or Spanish origin established distilleries on the island in order to produce rums which are now world famous and recognized. This 'Arturo Makasare' range was selected and bottled by Corman Collins.

Corman Collins is a brand created by Hubert Corman , owner of Caves de Xhéneumont in Battice, Belgium . Originally founded in 1965, the company offered dairy and farm products. He is gradually moving towards the world of spirits, and his marriage to Marie-Jeanne Collins will complete the Corman Collins brand, with releases always eagerly awaited. In 1995, the current site of the "Caves de Xhéneumont" was created. Everything is grouped there: offices, warehouses, wine cellar and store. It was also during this period that Sylvianne and Hubert Corman Junior, the daughter and the son, joined the company and gave a very family character to the management of this SME.
