MASAM - Silvano Samaroli Collection - Bruichladdich 18 ans - Millésime 2002 - Single Cask - Bottled 2020 - 53.3%
Masam refers to Maryse Samaroli, wife of Silvano Samaroli. Born in Bologna, Italy, Silvano Samaroli, the founder of the company, started his activity in 1968 by selecting and bottling some of the best whiskies in the world. At the beginning, he was the only independent bottler who was not British. In the 1990s, Samaroli added rum to his selection: he went in search of the best distilleries and brought the barrels back to Scotland, where the climate allowed slower aging. In 2008, Antonio Bleve, who has worked with Mr. Samaroli for many years and shares his philosophy and his passion, took over the business. In collaboration with a community of rum and whisky experts, Antonio pursues his quest for exceptional barrels thanks to the historic relationships of the brand and to new encounters. Samaroli is also pursuing research work on blending, combining the flavours of aged eaux-de-vie with the power of the youngest to recreate the soul of whisky, in particular by putting whiskies or rums in new barrels, to bring them incomparable depth compared to classic Singles Malts. Samaroli offers Single Malts and Single Casks rums chosen for their exceptional character. Each Samaroli bottle indicates the year of cask, the year of bottling, the number of bottles obtained from each cask, and the individual number of the bottle.
This edition was distilled in 2002 at Bruichladdich Distillery, on the isle of Islay in Scotland. It was bottled in 2020.
