Sandrine Farrugia - La Vague 2019
The Domaine of Sandrine Farrugia is located in Cocumont, in the Côtes du Marmandais in the South West of France. Born in Guyana, she grew up in Paris and became a wine importer for Japan as an adult. Following her meeting with Elian Da Ros, wine producer, she moved to Lot et Garonne in 2008. In 2012, she acquired 52 ares of vines and set up as a winegrower. She now owns 4 hectares, and produces wines in certified organic agriculture, with biodynamic practices and low-interventionist vinification.
La Vague is a blend of Abouriou (1/3), Cabernet Franc (1/3) and Merlot (1/3), from the lieu-dit Baquey in Cocumont. The Abouriou is kept in whole bunches while the Cabernet Franc and Merlot are destemmed. The grapes are lightly punched down for a gentle extraction. The wine is aged for at least 18 months in old demi-muids, then in concrete vats.
Grape varieties: 1/3 Abouriou, 1/3 Cabernet Franc, 1/3 Merlot
