Domaine de Villaine - Côte Chalonnaise - La Digoine 2020
Domaine de Villaine is located in Bouzeron, north of the Côte-Chalonnaise in Burgundy. The estate was bought by Aubert and Pamela de Villaine in 1971, and has been managed since 2001 by their nephew, Pierre de Benoist. Since 1986, organic farming methods have been developed within the vineyard. The estate has several ‘climats’ in the communes of Bouzeron, Rully, Mercurey and Santenay which are planted with Aligoté, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir.
La Digoine comes from vines located at the foot of the hillside where the soil is deeper. The vineyard is planted from selections of Pinot Noir chosen for their moderate yields. The wine is aged for 18 to 24 months. La Digoine is a wine to keep, which will reveal finesse and aromatic complexity after about ten years.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
