BOLOGNA - VO - Old Rum - 41%
The Bologna Distillery is located in Guadeloupe . It has been in operation since 1887 and takes its name from the former owners of the sugar refinery located on the fertile slopes of La Soufrière . The Bolognas, Protestants, migrated to Holland during the wars of religion and settled in 1580 in Brazil (which was then a Dutch colony) to cultivate sugar cane there. The Bolognes arrived in Guadeloupe in 1654 after being driven out of Brazil and then Martinique. The plantation-sugar mill in Bologna will experience ups and downs over the centuries, like all the sugar mills of the time, linked to history and the French Revolution. It was at the instigation of Louis Sargenton-Callarden in 1930 that the estate specialized in the production of Rhum Agricole .
The VO is a blend of old rums aged in oak barrels for 3 years, 4 years, 5 years, and 6 years.
