Domaine Fumey Chatelain - Trousseau 2020
Domaine Fumey Chatelain is located in Montigny-lès-Arsures, in the Jura . It was created by Raphaël Fumey and Adeline Chatelain in 1986. At the time, they began with 56 ares of vines to produce and sell grapes. In Spring 1991, due to a terrible episode of frost, they had so few grapes left that they decided to vinify it themselves and then signed their first vintage. They develop the operation by borrowing cellars and unused barrels from other winegrowers before settling in a ruined farmhouse. Today, the estate owns 17 hectares of vines and their son, Marin , after having vinified several times in Australia, New Zealand and South Africa, joins them. The estate is currently in sustainable cultivation but intends to begin a conversion to organic farming in the coming years.
The Trousseau 2020 comes from vines grown in places called Au Clouzot, Sauvagny (north face), Les Enseinges, Gaillard and Aux Loges, on marl and limestone soils. Half of the harvest is kept in whole bunches, the maceration lasts 20 days then the wine is aged in stainless steel vats for 11 months .
