The Shinshu Distillery, renowned for its ancestral expertise, is an integral part of the Hombo Shuzo group (also known as Hombo Brewing Co.). It is famous for producing whisky under the prestigious Mars Whisky brand. Since 2016, this iconic distillery has also offered an exceptional gin. Founded in 1872 by Honbu Matsusa, the distillery is located at 800 meters altitude in the charming village of Miyata, on the Japanese island of Kyushu. In 1949, Hombo Shuzo obtained a license to produce whisky at the Kagoshima distillery before moving its whisky operations to the Shinshu distillery. Although production was temporarily halted in 1992 due to low demand, it fully resumed in 2012, marking a revival of the Japanese whisky tradition.
The Wa Bi Gin, whose name means "Japanese beauty," is carefully crafted from 11 unique botanicals, 9 of which are locally grown in the preserved Kagoshima region. This authentic composition offers a refined tasting experience that perfectly embodies the essence and richness of the Japanese terroir.
