TAYLOR'S - Port - LBV - Late Bottle Vintage 2017
The Maison de Porto Taylor’s is located in Vila Nova de Gaia, on the south bank of the Douro River, opposite the city of Porto, Portugal . It was founded by Job Bearsley in 1692 and is one of the oldest founding houses in Port. The company today is run by the Yeatman family , who have been involved in the business for over 200 years. The wines are produced from grapes mainly sourced from vineyards located in the Douro Valley, where the climate and soil are ideal for the production of Port wines. Taylor's is also involved in the production of still wines in the Douro region and also has vineyards in other wine regions of Portugal, including the Alentejo region.
LBV (“Late Bottled Vintage”) was designed as a more affordable and quickly accessible alternative to classic vintage. This LBV comes from a selection of the best wines from a single year. While the classic vintage stays only about 20 months in wood before continuing its aging in the bottle, the LBV is bottled after aging for 4 to 6 years in casks . This longer contact with the wood structures and refines the wine, so that it is ready to drink as soon as it is bottled.
