This exceptional tonic is carefully crafted in an old distillery dating back to 1830, located near Cognac, in the Charentes region, known for its expertise in spirits. The name "Archibald" pays tribute to the Scottish botanist Archibald Menzies, famous for his discoveries of exotic plants with aromatic properties, essential for making unique and refined tonics.
Archibald tonics are meticulously made from natural and local ingredients carefully selected in France. Instead of using traditional quinine, the exclusive recipe incorporates gentian roots grown in the region to offer a delicate, subtle, and authentic bitterness. Added to this are juniper berries distilled using a traditional process, providing a fine and woody aromatic note. These concentrated extracts are used in minimal amounts, ensuring Archibald remains a perfectly non-alcoholic beverage.
