Domaine Stéphane Ogier - La Rosine 2019
Domaine Stéphane Ogier is located in Ampuis, in Côte-Rôtie , in the north of the Rhône Valley. The estate has existed for 7 generations, and Stéphane Ogier joined the family estate in 1997. By taking over from his father Michel, he chose to do precise work on his different terroirs in order to reveal the unique character of these places filled with history. From his experience in Burgundy, Stéphane Ogier retains the taste for elegance and finesse that has become characteristic of his wines. Each year, the winemaker strives to vinify the plots separately, to bring out the best of their potential. The blends are adjusted according to the vintages. When the estate started vinifying its own grapes, it had around 3 hectares of vines. From the late 1990s, new vineyards were planted or purchased, including several in new localities in Côte-Rôtie and a small 1.2 ha vineyard in Condrieu. Today, the vineyard extends over more than 15 hectares, 8 of which are in the Côte-Rotie appellation. He also created a small trading company that supplies the fruits of the Le Temps Est Venu cuvée in the Côtes du Rhône appellation.
La Rosine is made from Syrah , the age of the vines of which varies from 20 to 30 years. They are located on a south-east facing slope in the town of Tupin and Semons which adjoin the Côte-Rôtie appellation. The wine is aged for 12 months in Burgundy barrels .
