Domaine de la Bouissière - Vacqueyras 2021
Domaine de la Bouïssière is located in Gigondas, in the south of the Rhône Valley . The estate was founded in the late 1950s by Antonin Faravel, who had worked at the neighboring Domaine Pierre Amadieu since the age of 14, and who decided to plant vines on the land inherited from his father. The vines were located at a place called La Grande Bouïssière, at the foot of the Dentelles de Montmirail. Originally, the harvests were sold to Domaine Pierre Amadieu. It was from 1978 that Domaine de la Bouïssière began producing its own wine, with three vats and an old press. Today, the estate is managed by brothers and sisters Gilles, Thierry and Josiane . They produce wines in 3 appellations: Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Beaumes-de-Venise. They implement organic farming, without certification .
Vacqueyras 2021 is a blend of Syrah (41%), Grenache (36%) and Mourvèdre (23%) . The age of the vines is 62 years for Grenache, 29 years for Mourvèdre and 18 years for Syrah. The manual harvest is sorted then partially destemmed (56%) and lightly crushed. Fermentation lasts 30 days with daily pumping over and punching down. The wine is aged in barrels ( 65% in total ; 73% in demi-muids of 4 to 10 wines and 27% in barrels of 4 wines) and in concrete eggs (35%).
