Mee Godard - Beaujolais Blanc 2022
Domaine Mee Godard is located in Villié-Morgon, in the Beaujolais appellation. Born in South Korea, Mee Godard was adopted by a French couple in 1977. After studying biology and biochemistry, she went to Oregon for three years to obtain a master's degree in “Food and Science Technology”. Returning to France, she worked winemaking seasons in Champagne and Burgundy, but her longest role was as an agent for Cave Coopérative, selling wine products. In 2013, after her decision to become independent, Mee Godard bought 5 hectares of vines in Morgon from a retiring farmer. Today, it operates 5.4 hectares in Morgon, on three crus: Corcelette, Grand Cras and Côte du Py , as well as 1.1 hectares in Moulin-à-Vent . She works according to the principles of organic farming, without certification.
The harvest is carried out by hand, in boxes so as not to damage the bunches. A majority of the harvest (70 to 100%) is processed as whole harvests . Twice a day, she performs punching down and pumping over. Pre-fermentation maceration is done at low temperature, with the addition of yeast if necessary – between 3 and 4 days, and 10 to 12 days for the longest. Aging for 11 to 12 months is carried out in a combination of neutral barrels, tuns and demi-muids , followed by the wine resting for 2 to 3 months before bottling.
Grape variety: 100% Chardonnay
