Domaine de Chevalier is located in Pessac-Léognan , a sub-region of the Graves appellation in Bordeaux. It is classified Grand Cru Classé de Graves . The Domaine de Chevalier has the particularity of having retained its title of “domaine”, more common in Burgundy than in Bordeaux. In 1983, the estate passed under its current ownership when it was bought by the Bernard family , who renovated the winery and expanded the vineyard. The estate has approximately 45 hectares of vines on soils rich in gravel and clay, most of which are devoted to red grape varieties.
L’Esprit de Chevalier 2018 is the estate’s second wine. It is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon (55%), Merlot (40%) and Petit Verdot (5%) . The wine is aged for 18 months in oak barrels , 1/3 of which are new barrels.
