Château Canon - Croix Canon 2016

Château Canon , is a 34-hectare estate located in Saint-Émilion , Bordeaux . It is classified Premier Grand Cru Classé B in the latest Saint-Émilion wine rankings. In 1760, the frigate lieutenant and privateer with the eponymous name - Jacques Kanon, originally from Blayais - acquired the Domaine de Saint-Martin thanks to the profits from the races he carried out on behalf of Louis XV at the expense of English ships . He immediately undertook the construction of an elegant residence near which he developed the monoculture of vines on all these plots, an extremely rare strategy at that time. Later in 1919, the Fournier family took over the reins of the château before handing it over to Chanel in 1996 . Château Canon occupies a limestone terrace facing southwest, at an altitude of 87 meters where Merlot and Cabernet Franc are grown.

La Croix Canon is the second wine of Château Canon. It is made from the 11 hectares of plots surrounding the Mazerat chapel as well as young vines from the Saint-Emilion hillside. The 2016 is a blend of Merlot (76%) and Cabernet Franc (24%) . The wine is aged for 18 months in French oak barrels , 25% of which are new.
