Vietti - Freisa Vivace (Effervescent) Langhe 2019
Vietti is a Piedmont wine producer in northwestern Italy , located in the heart of the Langhe hills, atop the village of Castiglione Falletto . The estate created by Carlo Vietti has existed since the late 1800s but its reputation grew in the 1960s when Luciana Vietti married winemaker and art connoisseur Alfredo Currado . His intuitions on the production of one of the first Barolo vintages (Rocche di Castiglione in 1961), through the single-varietal vinification of Arneis (1967) to the invention of artist labels (1974) made him both the symbol and architect of some of the most important revolutions of the era. Management of the vineyard was taken over by Luca Currado Vietti and his wife Elena , before being acquired in 2016 by Krause Holdings , allowing Luca and Elena, still at the helm of the Vietti brand, to add a number of wines prized in the estate's heritage. Vietti is particularly known for its range of Barolo single-plot wines, its Barberas, and also its association with the Arneis variety.
This vintage is made from Freisa from the Langhe appellation area. Part of the harvest is kept in whole bunches at the start of fermentation. For pressed grapes, part of the unfermented must is removed and frozen . After this stage, the wine ferments for approximately 15 days. It is transferred into an old wooden container . Before racking, the frozen, unfermented must that is still sweet is added to melt into the rest of the wine. A riddling process is carried out; This process is essential for creating the fine bubbles . The wine then continues to ferment in the bottle.
Grape variety: 100% Freisa
