Domaine Bernard Baudry - Les Granges 2022
Domaine Bernard Baudry is located in Cravant-les-Côteaux, in the Chinon appellation in the Loire Valley. Coming from a family of winegrowers from the village, Bernard Baudry started as a wine advisor at the Tours laboratory after oenological studies in Beaune. This formative experience lasted five years before he decided to set up on his own in 1975 at the head of a small 2 hectare estate. Matthieu, his son, studied in Mâconnais then in Bordeaux. After a year of training in Tasmania then in California, he decided to join the family estate in 2000. The farm now has 32 hectares of vines whose variety of soils (gravel, sand, limestone, silica and clay) makes it possible to produce plot vinification. The vineyard has always been maintained using environmentally friendly methods and has now been cultivated using certified organic farming since 2006.
Les Granges is made from Cabernet Franc grown on gravel, mixed sand and recent alluvial terraces. The vines were planted between 1985 and 1988. After the manual harvest, fermentation lasts 15 days in concrete vats. Aging lasts 7 to 10 months in concrete vats .
Grape variety: 100% Cabernet Franc
