Zero Nine Spirits (Zn09) is an independent bottling company, founded in 2022 by two friends, Grégory and Alain . The two spirits enthusiasts are from Ariège and after years of experience in this field, they in turn decided to share their ideas of blending, aging and refining.
This bottling was made with 6 wine merchants across France (including Clos des Spiritueux) and Andorra as part of a new series called Alter Ego. It is the same barrel, cask strength or slightly reduced, shared with a selection of wine merchants. For this first opus, head to Jamaica with a Hampd... of Mark <> H distilled in a pot still, vintage 2014 . It has benefited from aging in American oak barrels having contained bourbon for 6 years in a tropical climate , followed by refining for 4 years in a continental climate . It was bottled in February 2024, with only 324 bottles having been produced. The official launch day is March 1, 2023!
Tasting comment from Fabien:
Head to the High Ester country, Jamaica, with the Hampden distillery. We are facing a <> H, with a marker corresponding to a rate of 900-1000 g/hlap. The rum was distilled in 2014 and spent 10 years in barrels (6 years in a tropical climate and 4 years in a continental climate). On the nose, we perceive notes of pineapple and overripe bananas for a superbly fruity profile. But also a pastry side and a hint of solvent. Notes of spices and olive arrive at the finish. A rum with very well integrated alcohol and crazy aromatics. For the price, I don't know how it's possible, so go for it!
