La Favorite is one of the last independent distilleries in Martinique with Neisson. It was founded in 1842 on the remains of a sugar factory called Les Jambettes before being renamed La Favorite in 1851. In 1909, when Henri Dormoy acquired it, he made some improvements to transform the sugar factory into a distillery. . Following a few twists and turns linked to a craze for gambling by Albert Dormoy (Henri's son), La Favorite saw its activity cease in 1938. It only resumed production when André, its younger brother , took it over to completely renovate it in 1956.
Today, La Favorite produces sugar cane on 60 hectares and also sources its supplies from small local producers ; it still operates entirely using a steam engine built in 1906. Vesou (cane wine) , obtained from cane juice fermented for a long time (up to 72 hours), is distilled in 2 Creole columns , one of which is entirely made of copper and has been operating since 1957 and the other more modern dating from 1986.
La Favorite Millésime 2017 is an old Hors d’Âge agricultural rum. It was aged in November 2017 in a selection of the best American oak barrels by the cellar masters. The rum was bottled in November 2023 and 5,000 bottles were produced.
