Château LA CROIX 1996
Château La Croix is located in Pomerol on the right bank of the Bordeaux wine region. Since 1974 it has belonged to Maison Joseph Janoueix , owner of three châteaux in Pomerol, seven in Saint-Émilion, two in Castillon-Côtes de Bordeaux and four in the Bordeaux Supérieur appellation. The Joseph Janoueix Vignobles guide and develop their wine production according to the principles of sustainable cultivation . The Château La Croix vineyard extends over 10 hectares.
The 1996 vintage for Bordeaux was extremely good : a mild winter and a warm spring with March bringing significant heat. A hot and dry September favored the ripening of the grapes, which particularly benefited the Médoc. The harvest was a success across the board. Cabernet Sauvignon, particularly from the Médoc, has produced wines that are tannic, structured, very concentrated and suitable for aging.
Grape varieties: 90% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc
