Château PETIT-VILLAGE 1986
Château Petit-Village is located in the Pomerol appellation, in Bordeaux . In June 2020, the Moulin family purchased Château Petit-Village. Vincent Priou , in charge of Château Beauregard for 30 years, is today Managing Director of the three wine estates belonging to the Moulin Family. Recent years have seen major renovations and changes at Château Petit-Village. Significant replanting of the vineyard having taken place, with the long-term aim of maximizing quality. Since 2018, Château Petit-Village has obtained High Environmental Value certification at Level 3, in recognition of an excellent level of environmental performance. In 2020, the estate began its conversion to organic farming in order to obtain certification in 2022.
Château Petit-Village is mainly composed of Merlot , supplemented with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine is aged for 15 months in barrels , around 40% of which are new. The 1986 vintage for Bordeaux was relatively difficult but excellent wines were still produced. The growing season began with a particularly cold winter. Spring started with cool, wet conditions until warmer weather ensured both budbreak and flowering, although they were slightly delayed. The good weather sets in for a long time and the summer is long, hot and extremely dry. September brought much needed rain to revitalize the soils and vines. Conditions dried out towards the end of the month, giving way to hot, dry weather which brought welcome winds conducive to tending the vines.
