Maison Boiteau - Le Chêne - Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon 2022
Maison Boiteau is a high-quality micro-business . Born in 1977 in Saumur, with a grandfather who was a winegrower in Charentes, Julien Boiteau lived for more than 20 years in Bourgueil and became passionate about vines and wine. Through his various experiences and meeting passionate men with whom he learned during his 20 years as head of cultivation at Château Margaux, he created Maison Boiteau in 2014. Today, his wife Maïté has joined him in the adventure and it is as a family that they work to create a great Charentes wine . This ambitious objective involves rigorous specifications : the selection of small plots worked by passionate winegrowers on very specific terroirs, the monitoring and carrying out of certain work throughout the year, the harvests on the chosen plots are carried out by them, they ensure to protect and preserve the quality of the grapes purchased from meticulous winegrowers.
Le Chêne is made from co-planted Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon (85% Merlot on the plot) aged 65 years, grown on the clay-limestone plateau of Plassac on a west-facing hillside. The harvest is manual and then destemmed without crushing. Maceration lasts about 20 days with little extraction, some punching down and pumping over. Aging lasts 12 months in barrels of 1 to 3 wines (70%) and in new barrels (30%), then 6 months in stainless steel vats .
