Domaine Armand Heitz - Mercurey Village 2021
Domaine Armand Heitz is located in Mimande, near Chassagne-Montrachet in the Côte de Beaune in Burgundy . The history of the estate begins in 1857 with the Nié-Vantey family, then owners of vines from Santenay to Clos de Vougeot and having a significant trading activity. Maison Joseph Drouhin bought their harvest until 2012, when Armand Heitz began growing his own vines on a plot of Burgundy Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. After this experience, the estate decided to expand in order to offer a more diversified range of appellations. Armand Heitz made permaculture and agroecology his philosophy. Alongside the many experiments set up in the vineyards to bring life back into the soil, a permaculture garden was created in 2019. In 2021, he continued his search for autonomy and circularity by starting to raise cows and sheep.
Mercurey is made from Pinot Noir planted in 1964 on clay-limestone and marl soils. The harvest is kept in whole bunches for vinification. The wine is aged for 14 months in barrels , 20 to 40% of which are new.
Grape variety: 100% Pinot Noir
