Armagnac Laterrade - Bas-Armagnac - 2016 - Domaine de Coutchot - Brut de Fût - 46.9%
Laterrade is an independent bottling brand specializing in Armagnac . Vincent Laterrade grew up in Vic-Fezensac, a village in the Ténarèze region of Armagnac. A former sommelier, he discovered small regional producers and joined forces with two enthusiasts to found L 'Encantada, offering vintage Armagnacs from unknown estates. Vincent became a hunter of rare Armagnacs and developed an impressive collection. He later joined forces with the Fitte family, owners of the Château de Herrebouc in Vic-Fezansac. He launched once again on the hunt for barrels and found vintages ranging from 10 years to over 50 years old. His philosophy was simple: find vintage Armagnacs from a single estate in which no reduction in alcohol, no blending or manipulation took place. Once again, when the partnership was dissolved, he found himself separated from the stocks he had carefully preserved. Finally, Vincent manages to convince Stéphane de Luze to let him redevelop an abandoned barn on the Château de Briat property to make a wine storehouse; this time, the barrels he finds would belong only to him and would simply come out under the label "Laterrade". The spirits come exclusively from producers in the region, the bottles come from a local glassmaker, the labels are made from local rag paper, the wax is French and the boxes are made from French trees.
This Bas-Armagnac was distilled in 2016 at the Domaine de Coutchot in Gaube. It was aged for 8 years in French oak barrels from the Gascony forest.
