Alvaro Palacios - The Terraces 1995
Alvaro Palacios is a wine producer famous for its wines made from Garnacha (Grenache Noire) from Priorat , Spain . Founded in 1990 by Alvaro Palacios himself, the winery has been at the forefront of Priorat's fame as one of the most prestigious wine regions in Spain. Alvaro Palacios grew up in Rioja where his family makes wines under the name Palacios Remondo . After working in Pétrus and Pomerol, he bought his own vineyard in the then obscure Priorat region, where steep slate-based hillsides covered in gnarled vines had been forgotten in the second half of the 20th century. Alvaro Palacios quickly expanded his estate and now owns several vineyards in the region. In its wines, Grenache is predominant but is often complemented by Cariñena, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. The Finca Dofí cuvée comes from a single vineyard, while Gratallops, Les Terrasses and Camins del Priorat all come from several Priorat vineyards.
