Domaine Pouderoux - Roc de Plane 2023
Domaine Pouderoux is located in Maury, in Roussillon . The estate was passed down from mother to daughter for 6 generations until Robert Pouderoux, the only son, who has since handed over the property to his little cousin Louise Tanguy . She is accompanied by her friend Léo Hemmer Bury . The vineyard was converted to organic farming in 2011 and obtained its biodynamic certification in 2021. The duo ensures ecological diversity on their islands of vines by promoting habitats for insects, birds and bats as well as endemic plant species: almond trees, kermes oak, cistus, broom, serviceberry, euphorbia, strawberry trees, mimosas and junipers. The terroir consists of a subsoil of brown marl, covered on the surface with black schists. Louise and Léo produce sweet and dry wines in the Maury appellation, with low yields.
Roc de Plane comes from a plot planted with Grenache Gris, Grenache Blanc and Macabeu . The terroir is composed of black schists located on the top of the vineyard at an altitude of 300 meters. The harvest is manual, with selection and sorting at the plot. The grapes are put into direct pressing and the vinification is carried out in stainless steel vats and in demi-muids of 2 wines. The aging lasts 6 months in demi-muids , on fine lees with stirring.
Grape varieties: Grenache Gris, Grenache Blanc, Macabeu
