Domaine Les Pallières - Devil's Terrace - Gigondas 2020
Domaine du Vieux Télégraphe is located in Châteauneuf-du-Pape , in the Southern Rhône . The estate was created by Hippolyte Burnier and marketed its first wine in 1900. The Brunier family also produces wine under the Massaya label in the Bekaa Valley in Lebanon. It has grown to become one of the largest owners in Châteauneuf-du-Pape with nearly 100 hectares. The estate's vines (60 years old on average) are planted on the famous Plateau de La Crau, a renowned wine-growing site in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. Sustainable viticulture is practiced throughout the property.
Domaine Les Pallières , taken over in 1998 in partnership with their friend Kermit Lynch, represents 135 hectares in a single plot in the Gigondas appellation, including 25 hectares planted with vines.
Terrasse du Diable is a blend of Grenache Noir (90%), Mourvèdre (5%) and Clairette (5%) . The vines are about 45 years old . The harvest is manual with double sorting in the vineyard, followed by a third sorting in the cellar. The grapes are lightly crushed and destemming is selective. Fermentation is traditional, lasting 25 to 30 days in concrete and wooden vats. The wine is aged for 20 months in 60 hectoliter French oak tuns .
