Domaine Belargus - Ronceray 2022
Domaine Belargus is located in Val-du-Layon, in the heart of the Anjou Noir region in the Loire Valley. The vines are spread around three main islands (Savennières, Quarts-de-Chaume and Coteaux du Layon), themselves composed of unique terroirs, defined precisely by their exposure, their subsoil or their slope. Built by Ivan Massonnat , the 20-hectare biodynamic estate is dedicated to Chenin Blanc and explores these micro-terroirs in a plot-by-plot approach inspired by Burgundy climates. The team is made up of young talents such as Adrien Moreau as cellar master and Amaury Chartier as head of cultivation and the estate benefits from the support of true Loire pioneers such as Jo Pithon and Guy Bossard.
Under the impetus of several winemakers of the appellation, Ronceray is the name given to the dry white wines produced in the Chaume Premier Cru and Quarts de Chaume Grand Cru appellations, in homage to the abbesses of the Ronceray Abbey, owners of the vines in the 11th century. This cuvée is made from Chenin Blanc cultivated on 4.44 hectares on a terroir of schist and sandstone, exposed on the southern slope of the ridge.
Grape variety: 100% Chenin Blanc
