Brugal is a rum brand originating from the Dominican Republic . It was founded in 1888 by Don Andrés Brugal Montaner , a Spaniard who gained expertise in rum making during his stay in Cuba before settling in Puerto Plata. Since its inception, Brugal has remained a family business. In 2008, the Scottish group The Edrington Group acquired a majority stake in Brugal & Co., while maintaining production in the Dominican Republic and retaining an active role for the Brugal family in the management of the company.

Colección Visionaria Edición 02 is inspired by the rich tradition of coffee culture in the Dominican Republic. Jassil Villanueva Quintana sought to create a rum that embodies the cherished moment of the “cafecito”: a ritual celebrated in the Dominican Republic where friends and family gather for a break. The rum is aged in toasted barrels with organic Caribbean cocoa beans .
