Craigellachie Distillery is located in the village of Craigellachie, Speyside , Scotland . It was built in 1891 by Craigellachie Distillery Co. Limited, a group of blenders and merchants led by Alexander Edward. Over the next few years, ownership passed from Peter Mackie (in 1916), to the Distillery Company Limited (in 1927), and to SMD (in 1930). In 1964, the number of stills was doubled. Since 1998, John Dewar & Sons Ltd has operated the distillery and also controls Royal Brackla, Aberfeldy, Aultmore, and Macduff.
This limited edition is a 13 year old initially aged in a combination of ex-Bourbon and ex-Sherry casks, then refined in casks that previously contained Bas-Armagnac .
