Marcel Lapierre - Cuvée Marcel Lapierre 2018
Domaine Lapierre is located in Villié-Morgon, in Beaujolais. A family-owned estate for three generations, the grandfather Michel Lapierre moved to Villié-Morgon at the beginning of the century as cellar master at "Domaine des Chênes". After the Second World War, his son Camille succeeded him. He then seeks to develop the sale in barrels to bistros of Lyon and Mâcon. At the end of the 1950s, he began to sell his production in bottles and enlarged the farm by buying some plots. In 1973, with a clientele forged by his father, Marcel Lapierre took over the farm, which then numbered 7 hectares. From 1981, and under the impulse of Jules Chauvet, known researcher and recognised in the Universities of California, Marcel Lapierre decided to vinify without sulfur or yeasting and to cultivate his vines in Biodynamy: without chemical fertilizers, nor herbicides. Today, despite his demise, the energy of the estate remains intact. The vineyard planted entirely with the Gamay grape variety (which is 70 years old on average), now covers 16.5 hectares.
The cuvée "Marcel" is the flagship of the estate, and produced only during the good years. The production is very small, and the Gamay comes from centenary vines. A powerful Morgon with great aging potential.
