The Savanna Estate, originally founded at the beginning of the 19th century, is located in Saint-Paul, at the foot of the majestic mountains of Réunion. Initially transformed into a sugar factory, it saw the birth of its distillery between 1948 and 1950 thanks to the initiative of Emile Hugot. An engineer trained at the École Centrale des Arts et Manufactures in Paris, Emile Hugot became an emblematic and influential figure in the global sugar industry. From 1982, a strategic partnership allowed the Savanna distillery to raise its standards, producing high-end rums recognized for their finesse and quality, earning it the distinction of being the first European distillery certified ISO 9002, a mark of excellence and rigor.
