CHAMBERTIN TRAPET JEAN-LOUIS 2016

Caring producer, sensitive to biodynamics, Jean-Louis Trapet will have signed the development of the family estate. If the recent succession which affected the domain gave part of the vines to the Rossignol cousins, Jean-Louis Trapet still cultivates three Grands Crus and two Premiers Crus. As for the style of its wines, they bring Burgundy to the top. As an idealist convinced of biodynamics, he leads with his Alsatian wife Andrée a vineyard that he likes to call alive. The couple's sense of hospitality invites visiting and distinguished guests to their table. Here the wine speaks to express all its nobility.

This miracle of nature, sensed by Arthur Trapet one fine morning in May 1919, when he decided to buy his first plot of Chambertin, we wish to be worthy of it.
Day after day, season after season, we work to bring this royal land to life.

This finage ensures, moreover, the longest reign in history. Its first evocation dates from 630, when Duke Amalgaire gave the monks of the abbey of Bèze his elite vineyard. A little later, in 1219, the abbey of Bèze located north-east of Dijon ceded its domain to the chapter of St Mammès cathedral in Langres. It was at this time that the mention of “boschus de campo Bertuyn” appears, a wood of Chambertin, the immediate neighbor of Clos de Béze. It is then a field owned by a certain Bertin. Over the centuries that followed, many owners shaped this wonderful land. “People change but the earth remains” .`

This sumptuous land where the blue blood of Pinot Noir flows, has a complex geological composition. The bottom is marl-limestone with superb clays with a large internal surface.
The upper part is much whiter and marly, which has the effect of slowing down the vegetative cycle and giving this jewel wine a royal and rare balance!
