RHUM de JAMAIQUE - HABITATION VELIER - Rhum blanc - LONG POND - STCE - 62,5%
Habitation Velier is a project born from the will of Luca Gargano, probably the greatest rum specialist in this world. Luca Gargano comes from a large Italian family, known for the quality of his goods, a family of explorers who aims a qualitative rather than lucrative distribution. For each distilleries, the aim is to highlight the best distillers from their Pure Single rums, each time with an original project signed by Habitation Velier to produce a world first for each unique signature distillery.
Long Pond Distillery is a Jamaican distillery whose foundation dates back to the end of the 18th century when Simon Clarke, a baroness in exile, received the property as the dowry of his marriage. It will then be necessary to wait until 1921 to find the trace of the owners with the purchase of the estate by the company Sheriff & Co. The latter buys a considerable number of distilleries and merge them, the domain takes the name of Trelawny Estate in 1955 and in 1977 the The industry is bought back by the Jamaican government, which decides to rename it The National Sugar Company of Long Pond Ltd. and the place under the aegis of the company National Rum of Jamaica which will be privatized a few years later, around 1993. Now the candy factory and the distillery belong to 2 separate owners following the acquisition of this one by Everglades Farms (owner of Hampden ). It was not until 2012 to see Long Pond rums marketed under their own brand. Inside the old buildings, the 5 stills subtly modified over time and the fermentations tanks guarantee a highly qualitative and inimitable production.
This Long Pond STCE white rum is therefore bottled by Velier and is characterized (like many Jamaican rum) by its ester level which varies between 550 and 700 g / hl of pure alcohol for this vintage. A rum with a strong character, rich of a chaotic history that assumes it with a naked elegance.
