Domaine Oratoire Saint Martin - Reserve of the Lords 2016
The Domaine de L'Oratoire Saint-Martin has been handed down from father to son for 300 years: ten generations have followed one another on the same vineyard since André Alary in 1692. Frédéric and François Alary took over the operation in 1984 and cultivate 25 hectares on the slopes of Saint-Martin whose oratory, built in the middle of the vineyards, gave the name to the domain.
Most of the Domaine de L'Oratoire Saint-Martin is located in the northeast of the commune of Cairanne, 200 meters above sea level on steep hills in an area commonly known as "the mountain". These are steep slopes requiring the use of crawler tractors on the steepest. It is a very stony terroir of yellow clay on the surface and blue clay in depth with a very high percentage of active limestone.
Everything is thought out and thought through to obtain a high quality harvest and a deep respect for the terroir. The Domaine de L'Oratoire Saint-Martin is certified in organic farming, the vines are worked without pesticides, without chemical fertilizers and without weedkillers, the soil is entirely worked mechanically on the old vines to bury the organic compost (sheep manure) and promote deep root development. The manual harvest is sorted a first time by the pickers and a second time on a sorting table. The vinification is done in open vats with punching down for the Cairanne and in closed vats with pumping over for the Côtes-du-Rhône. The aging is done in vats, in demi-muids or in tuns.
Grape varieties: Grenache, Syrah, Mourvèdre
All the spirits offered are in stock and also available in our store at 3 rue Lucien Faure in BORDEAUX - Line stop B/7/32 Cité du vin
