A great sweet Chenin wine from the Quart de Chaume terroir: fifty hectares in the heart of the Coteaux du Layon, enjoying a great reputation for centuries. The only Grand Cru of the Loire.

Average age of the vines: Plantation 1970 Surface area of the vines for this vintage 1.16 hectares
Nature of the soil and the subsoil: A name is not limited to a type of geology. It is also a topography, and stories, of trade, of relationships between lords, abbeys, men and women. Our plot geologically is on the Carboniferous, with sandstones, conglomerates, at the top, and shales to descend. South east exposure.
Number of bottles for this cuvée: 878 half bottles
Vinification and Aging: Fermentation and aging in barrels. No yeasting or chaptalisation, no sulphiting, natural oxidation of the musts during pressing, overnight settling at cellar temperature, natural flotation in barrels (guillage) at the start of fermentation, to get rid of oxidative phenols. first sulphiting at the first racking, then complement to the setting.
