Guiseppe Quintarelli - Valpolicella Classico Superiore - 15% 2012 Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOP Here is an Italian winemaker who has managed to climb among the largest of his country with its 12 hectares of vineyards in the heart of the hills of the Valopolicella appellation, we name the person of Giuseppe Quintarelli. This light went out in 2012 unfortunately. He was known for the great attention he paid to his wines, which he unfortunately only produced in very limited quantities. This great classic of the estate was therefore vinified and matured in barrels, in which he developed aromas of a magnificent harmony.

Guiseppe Quintarelli - Valpolicella Classico Superiore - 15% 2012

Giuseppe Quintarelli is located in Verona, in the Veneto region of Italy. The estate dates back to 1924 and but it was Giuseppe Quintarelli (known as Bepi, in charge from the mid-1950s until his death in 2012) who drove its success. Giuseppe established the winery as the source of the most traditional styles of Amarone, ageing it for seven years in Slavonian oak; the result is one of the most complex wines produced in Italy. Even though he is traditional in his Amarone production, it does not follow that Giuseppe is afraid of innovation. As well as the Amarone, he produces a dry white wine called Bianco Secco and a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Corvina labelled Primo Fiore. Giuseppe’s daughter, Fiorenza, her husband, Giampaolo Grigoli, and their children Francesco and Lorenzo, are currently involved in running the winery.

The Valpolicella Classico Superiore is a blend of Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella. Half of the grapes are directly pressed after harvest, and the other half are left out to air-dry for 2 months. The combined juice is aged for 7 years in large Slavonian oak barrels.

Grape varieties: Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella
